Blurb: With the exciting reopening of the Early College’s TBD Cafe there comes new snacks and beverages to enjoy.
After taking a break, the TBD Cafe has reopened with new treats and new students. Some of these new snacks and drinks include Martinelli sparkling cider, chocolate croissants, and uncrustable sandwiches. The TBD Cafe is a source for funding school events and provides 10th grade students with the experience of managing and maintaining a business. They have to work on prices that yield a fair amount of profit while keeping prices low for the consumers. Another gained skill is working with customers to create a positive experience while building relationships with their colleagues. When students buy something from the cafe they get to enjoy it while also supporting the school and allowing for higher budget trips.
All of the products sold are bought at Costco in mass quantities to be the most cost-effective while allowing prices to remain similar and lower than other businesses such as a grocery store or gas station.
We sent out a poll to see what the students think of the cafe and the results were mainly positive. 71% of students felt as if they were getting a fair price and 14% felt the prices were a bit iffy while the last 14% felt they weren’t getting a fair price. The customer support has been rated at 9/10 stars. Some of the students left comments on the poll, “I think you guys should add back the veggie burgers and also have more fresh and healthy options to the grill. I think you guys could add some fresh fruit like oranges, bananas, grapes, apples, and kiwis.” While another student said, “lower the price of green tea.”
