As the new year has rolled around, so have the new fragrance launches! The scent trend for this year seems to be very fruity with an emphasis on fig and berries.
The new releases of YSL Libre Berry Crush, Tom Ford Figue Érotique, Phlur Berries and Cream Mist, Lancôme Peaches Idôle, the Dior Addict relaunches, plus many more have kickstarted this “berry” new trend! To understand why these scents are so addictive, let’s start with the notes that define them, and how those notes translate on the skin:
YSL Libre Berry Crush:
Key Notes: Raspberry, mandarin, lavender, orange blossom, and coconut
The berry flanker of the original YSL libre still keeps all of the lavender and blossom notes of the original, and adds a juicy sweetness with the raspberry. Upon smelling the fragrance, I was hit with the raspberry, and then it slowly developed into the classic Libre that is known and loved. Personally, I would not buy this perfume if you already own the original Libre, because it is very easy to replicate it by layering a fruity perfume with the original.
Tom Ford Figue Érotique
Key Notes: Kadota Fig Accord, Vert de Bergamot, Muscovado Accord
This is one of Tom Ford’s newest releases that captures a very sweet and well balanced fig. As the fig slowly fades it opens to a nice sparkling citrus scent. However, for the price of $405 dollars for only a 50 ml bottle, I don’t think it is worth purchasing when duplicates will probably enter the market very soon.
Phlur Berry Cream Mist
Key Notes: Dewy Raspberry, Strawberry, Sweet Cream, Hibiscus Flower
The mention of a mist takes a bit of a turn from the list of perfumes; however, I felt it was worth mentioning because of how well the strawberry notes pair with the underlying vanilla and cream notes. The strawberry didn’t smell artificial and layered really nicely with Phlur’s new matcha fragrance as well. The mist would also layer really nicely with Miu Miu’s Miutine. I would say that this is worth the price!
Lancôme Peach ‘N Roses Idôle
Key Notes: Red Berries, Juicy Peach, Velvety Rose
The Peach N’Roses are Lancôme’s flankers of the original Idôle. I think that the peach is slightly overpowering, even though it is quite juicy and fresh. The pairing with rose is also nice since it adds a bit of freshness to the very sweet peach. Personally, I was not a huge fan at first, but as the scent wore down on my skin, it became a nice fruity rose. It is worth the price if you or someone you know really enjoys extremely sweet scents.
Dior Addict Rosy Glow:
Key Notes: Glazed Rose, Sparkling Lychee, Creamy Vanilla
When I smelt this perfume, I didn’t smell a lot of the lychee or vanilla, but I do think they might have added some of the sweetness to the perfume that I did pick up on. This is a really nice rose fragrance and a very cute extension of the original Dior Addict perfume. I would anticipate that it fades rather quickly since most florals tend to. Although, if you like cute packaging and sweet florals, it is definitely worth considering to purchase!
Dior Addict Peachy Glow
Key Notes: Velvety Jasmine, Juicy Peach, Creamy Vanilla
Another one for the peach family! I really liked this perfume, it smelt almost exactly like a peach ring. I think the vanilla paired nicer than the peach and rose from the Idole line. The packaging is identical to the rosy glow, besides the bottle being orange. I think this peach scent is also worth the price!
Dior Addict Purple Glow
Key Notes: Powdery Iris, Candied Raspberry, Creamy Vanilla
This is the last of the addict relaunch! The raspberry and vanilla pair beautifully to create a sweet and almost gummy bear like fragrance. The iris does cut in to help balance the sweetness and leave a powdery and feminine touch. Out of all the new addict scents, this is probably my favorite!
Valentino Donna Born in Roma Purple Melanchochila
Key Notes: Mirabelle Plum, Jasmine Absolute, Madagascar Vanilla
Out of all the Donna Born in Roma flankers, this one definitely strays the furthest from the original. When I smelt it, I was hit with the sweet, juicy, and rich plum. I think that there might have been some sort of apple note in there as well, but it was still quite sweet. It also had some really nice added creminess from the vanilla! Overall, if you like plum, I would recommend purchasing this one!
Prada Infusion de Santal Chai
Key Notes: Chai Latte Accord, Sandalwood, Citrus
A bit of a stray from the fruity releases, this new Prada Infusion is a beautiful gourmand scent that is not just your basic vanilla. When I first sprayed it, I smelt a lot of cardamom that settled down into more of a creamy, woody scent. Smelling this made me feel like I was right over a steeping chai pot. If you don’t want a vanilla scent for the winter, this is definitely worth purchasing!
So far, 2026 looks like it’s rolling off to a great start with launches!
