This Monday, two ninth grade students kicked off the first meeting of their new club. Aryan Bachu and Aashi Mehrotra, co-presidents, held the debut of the CADventure club which aims to teach other students how to navigate 3D computer aided design(CAD) on the site onshape. Aashi has been working on various CAD softwares since 6th grade while Aryan has been using onshape for the past two years. The meeting was supervised by Mr. Alex from 3 to 4 p.m. Both founders hope to continue it for the next four years, switching up members each year.
During the hours, the co-presidents took turns up front, showing the group how to make a rectangular prism, sphere, donut, and pyramid while the other walked around the classroom and helped anyone who was stuck. Attendees were mainly other 9th grade students. The club offers a curriculum that progresses from geometric shapes to complex buildings and one day the opportunity to compete in CADing competitions. Since this was only the first of many sessions to come, these shapes helped build fundamentals of CAD. Members learn the importance of construction geometry, extruding, the offset function, and how to move through the site with ease.
This first step in the establishment of the CADventure club marks a significant milestone towards a culture of innovation within the Alsion community. With a passion for CAD spanning many years, Aryan and Aashi showcased their expertise this Monday. Hoping to nurture creativity by teaching essential skills in CAD, the club promises an exciting journey ahead.
