Moksh and Taran Cafe Interviews
Taran and Moksh interview Alsion students to get customer and employee perspectives on the Alsion cafe
Employee Perspective
Since last semester, there have been a few changes with the cafe. Nowadays, the cafe is only open on Tuesday and Thursday, which are grill days. It used to be open from Monday to Friday, but due to classes, the cafe isn’t open on Mondays and Wednesdays. The main item people buy is still Gatorade, but chips are becoming more popular. Ever since the number of days open have changed, people are buying fewer grill items. It is strange because the grill days have not changed. The most popular grill item seems to be the beef burger, although the hotdog is very close behind. Preparing these items is somewhat fun. One new trend is that chips are selling more and more. We used to sell nut bars, but no one bought them, despite giving out free samples. Most of the customers come within the first 10 minutes of the cafe day to buy their snacks, but every once in a while there is an outlier who comes later.
Customer Perspective
The cafe rebrand this year was unexpected, and I didn’t expectanything more than a name change. However, there is a surprising amount the update has to offer. Mainly the new grill which serves on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The burgers and hotdogs are good, but I wished they offered more options, like other typesof sandwiches. If possible, it would be nice to see students operate the grill so it could be open four days of the week, rather than two. I look forward to seeing how TBD cafe changes this semester.
