Ever Forward Club

The Ever Forward Club is a non-profit organization that works to help students throughout high school. Founded in 2004 by teacher Ashanti Branch, the organization began as a support group for African American and Latino males struggling in high school. The organization continues to work with young men of color in both middle and high school, focusing specifically on youth who fall behind in, are disconnected from, or worn out by school.

We had the Alsion community participate in the organization’s 100k Masks Campaign. Each student was asked to design and draw a mask, as well as write down three words that represent qualities and characteristics they display openly and three words that represent ones they try to hide. By using the concept of hiding behind a mask, the campaign shows that we have more in common than we might think, an idea that is the basis of one of the organization’s main goals: helping people realize they are not alone.

Here are some of the submissions that Alsion students have made.
