A Guide to the Ohlone Campus
As we start to come back to school full time, the Ohlone campus may feel unknown and unexplored. If you are feeling lost on where to go between classes and end up wandering aimlessly, this list is for you. The Witherly Heights staff compiled a list of their favorite places to study, relax, and hang out with friends on the Ohlone campus.
Best Places to Study
The Study Center in Building Three
The study center on the fourth floor of Building 3 is my favorite place to work in between classes. They have a large area in the center with different types of tables and comfy chairs as well as secluded study rooms for extra privacy and quiet. It is very quiet and has really nice views. Additionally, the library is also a floor above the study center.
Hyman Hall Library
The library in Hyman Hall is another nice place to work or study. It is very quiet, so it is perfect if you need to concentrate and be in a calming, peaceful work environment.
The Outdoor Auditorium
The outdoor stage outside of Smith Center may seem like an unconventional place to study, but it is generally quiet and has very nice views. Additionally, it is outside, so it provides a good source of fresh air and sunlight while working.
Study/Learning Centers
There are different learning centers around campus where there are tutors that can help out with different subjects. Additionally, there is space in the learning centers to sit and do homework or study. The english learning center is located on the fifth floor of building three, the math learning center is located on the fourth floor of building three, and the biology/chemistry learning center is located on the first floor of building one.
Best Places to Relax
The Steps
The steps are a great place to hang out with friends in between classes. They are easy to locate and have a bunch of space for a large group of people, and they are outside, so they are typically very sunny and warm.
The Pond
The pond, which is also where the taco truck is on some days of the week, is very relaxing to sit by. The pond itself is very pretty and is surrounded by comfortable benches and tables. The pond also has really cute turtles and there is also a fountain in the middle of the pond that is very fun and adds to the relaxing ambiance.
Best Places to Eat Around Campus
Mission Coffee
Mission Coffee is an iconic Fremont spot, and along with their great coffee and food options, they have really great seating options, with large tables and an outdoor patio that has both shaded and unshaded tables.
Kitayama Japanese Restaurant
Kitayama is very close to school, and it has a variety of sushi options to choose from. It’s a great place to pick up a snack or a meal during a study break!
Taco Truck
On some days, there is a taco truck on Ohlone Campus that has a great selection of food and is very accessible for a quick bite in between classes. They charge $10 for three delicious (staff approved!) tacos and only take cash or venmo.
Teazen Tea
Rounding off the list is a boba place (arguably the best in Fremont) ! Teazen Tea has great boba, with a large selection of different flavors of fruit and milk tea, and has a nice overall ambiance, with a couch and a fun Lego wall for entertainment.
