A Franchise-Making Night
By the Editorial Staff
On May 10, 2019, back from a one-year hiatus, the Alsion Coffeehouse charged the school with a fun frisson of songs and poetry. Akash Sethi, a junior, emceed a night that could have been cacophonous–after all, it had decrepit cheese, unexpected raunchiness, a not-so-hostile takeover of a performance, Spanish madness–but was really all entertainment, talent and even beauty. May next year’s Coffeehouse be as classic as this one was.
The performances:
- Ms. Jennifer with rap assist from Akash Sethi, “Garden Poems”
- Jessica Anthony and Lauren Chang, a cut of “You Happened” from The Prom
- Jessica Anthony, “Sexy and I Know It,” acoustic cover by Noah Guthrie
