A Cozy Comfortable Christmas: Hot Chocolate Recipe
By: Avani Sethi
Winter weather frontiers and the advent of finals for many of our community-college taking students, signals among many other things, the coming of winter. In these often cold times, where hardwood floors become synonymous to the icy expanses of frozen tundras and patches of rugs or carpet may be the only respite from the frozen world of other surfaces, there are few ways to seek out heat. So, what better to warm you up on a cold day than some warm hot chocolate?
Ingredients:
- Hot Chocolate
- 1 cup milk
- splash of heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips
- ¼ teaspoon of instant coffee
- 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- dash of cinnamon
- Whipped Cream
- ½ cup of heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
Step 1:
Heat up milk and add in heavy cream, chocolate, coffee, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Whisk together until smooth with no clumps.
Step 2:
Use an electric whisk or hand mixer to whip the heavy cream and sugar together until it has reached a thick consistency.
An alternative is to steam some milk on top instead of adding whipped cream.
Step 3:
Pour the milk into your favorite mug and add the cream/foam on top. Top with chocolate shavings and enjoy!
