Three new students are interviewed about their experience at Alsion.

Alsion differs from other schools – mainly in its environment and style of teaching. It’s a place that offers a more hands-on curriculum involving several field trips, biome trips, and gardening, as well as a smaller class size allowing for more group activities and help with individualized learning plans. These differences, although positive, can be a big change from other teaching styles new students may be used to. That being said, how are new students adjusting to Alsion?
Of the 6 students just joining this year, 3 offered to provide answers about their Alsion experience. Upon asking students Nishka Shah, Nicandro Cheung, and Zayd Mansoor how they were feeling about their time at Alsion, the general consensus was that it has been enjoyable and slightly challenging so far, especially regarding homework and tests. Since joining, they have learned how to improve their grades, work harder, and take on tougher academic challenges. They enjoy the space and community, stating that “it’s a small school and everyone gets along well” and that “the teachers are very supportive and understanding” (Nishka Shah). Compared to their previous schools, Alsion is smaller, more considerate when listening to students’ opinions and views, and “better” (Nicandro Cheung).
Overall, despite the changes the school offers, new students are evidently willing to welcome the challenge. New students in Alsion seem to be taking a liking to our tight-knit community.
