About

Established in 2016, Witherly Heights is the student-run, official journal of the Alsion community, serving the Alsion Montessori Middle School, the Alsion Early College High School and the Alsion Community Association.  Witherly Heights is published monthly every fall and spring semester.

Alsion has always been “the Explaining Place.”  When Alsioners are asked about where they study literature in a classroom combining multiple grade levels, where they tend chicken, where there is a graduating class comprised of three students, where they had tasted bacon popcorn made by their teacher, where a dog named Hank roams free, where they are both high school and college students, where the school year starts in June, where Mulholland Drive is mandatory screening—when Alsioners, therefore, are asked about Alsion, there is a great deal of explaining to do.

What better explanation can there be—one that is ongoing, will never be finished—than a venue where Alsion’s students, staff and community members can display their creativity, voice their opinion, intimate their potential, reveal some unseen side, conspire to deepen their sense of rapport?  Witherly Heights aims to be that venue.  It is where no other explanations are needed.
